The Content That Never Stops Working

Most content has an expiration date. Podcast episodes don't.

Your library is already compounding

A client of mine mentioned recently that her most listened to episodes were from over a year ago. Not her latest ones. Her earliest. And that realization changed how she thought about everything she'd already built.

New listeners don't always start with your newest episode. They find one they like and go back to the beginning. They binge. Which means every episode you've ever recorded is still out there, still searchable, still capable of making a first impression on someone who's never heard of you.

The asset you're ignoring

Most podcasters spend all their energy on what's coming next and almost none on what they've already made. Old episodes get promoted once and then forgotten. But the topics don't expire. The value doesn't disappear.

Pull a clip from something you recorded six months ago. Reshare it. Write a post around it. The work is already done.

What this actually means for your show

Every episode you publish adds to a library that grows more valuable over time. Episode 10 sends people to episode 1. Episode 50 gives a new listener hours of content to explore before they ever reach out to you.

That's not a reason to get lazy about new content. It's a reason to treat your back catalog like the asset it already is, because it's working whether you're paying attention to it or not.
